What we collect, and why.

1. Who we are

Zahl ("we," "us") operates zahl.co.uk, an independent comparison tool for UK card machine and payment gateway providers. For UK GDPR purposes, Zahl is the data controller for the information described below.

2. What we collect

• Website analytics — basic visit data (pages viewed, general location at country/city level, device type, referral source). We use privacy-focused analytics that doesn't track you individually across sites or build an advertising profile.
• Email correspondence — if you email hello@zahl.uk or partner@zahl.uk, we keep that message and your email address to reply to you.
• Calculator inputs — the turnover and transaction figures you enter into the comparison tool are processed in your browser to generate results. We don't store or see these figures ourselves.

We do not use sign-up forms, don't create user accounts, and don't knowingly collect any special category data (health, financial account details, etc.).

3. Why we collect it, and our legal basis

• Analytics — legitimate interest: understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.
• Email correspondence — legitimate interest / contract: responding to your enquiry is the reason you contacted us.

4. Cookies

We aim to use privacy-focused analytics that doesn't rely on identifying cookies, meaning no cookie consent banner is required for that. If this ever changes (for example, if we introduce tools that do use cookies), we'll update this policy and add a proper consent banner at that point, not before.

5. Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and sign up with a provider, that provider's own website may set cookies or otherwise track that referral — this happens on their site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We'd encourage checking the relevant provider's own privacy policy if you have questions about their tracking.

6. How long we keep data

Analytics data is retained only in aggregate, anonymised form, for as long as it's useful for understanding site trends. Email correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve your query and for our own records, and deleted when no longer needed.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it's processed. To exercise any of these, email hello@zahl.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with a new date at the top of this page.
